Absence of College Spirit
Text: Today our college Squash team played against Rjc in the Semi Finals at Kallang Squash Centre. Besides us, Hcjc and Acjc also played their semi final round at the same place.
Most of the NJCians who went to support/watch our team play were from our own squash cca, as well as our NJ netball people who had match scheduled at the netball centre across the squash centre.
This afternoon, 2 busloads of ACJC students came to support their Squash team against their HCJC rivals, arriving with sch flags.. cheers and shows of support. Compared to our NJ force of about 10 students supporting our team against RJC, a strong opponent, i really felt that NJC's sch spirit was not displayed today.
All of the Sportsmen/women of NJC have trained hard to bring glory to the college. The rest of us, as students, should go down and cheer our hearts out for them, some who may even be your classmates and friends.
Imagine if you were playing against an opponent whose sch had sent 50 students to support him, and u realise that nobody from your college was there to see you play and urge you on, how would you feel? The feeling of hearing thundering cheers for your opponent and only the spinning of the fan blades for you is not very pleasant.
Maybe it doesnt matter to the mentally stronger players, but not everybody is like that. Some players need cheers of encouragement from their friends and peers during intervals to push on during the game.
Now that more of the National Schools Competitions are starting, I hope that more NJC College Spirit can be witnessed at the competition venue, instead of on the podium.
Maybe Captains of the various ccas could make annoucements to call for NJCians to go down and support matches which they face stronger opponents, or if it is a crucial match to the college.
The College could too, in turn, aid by chartering buses to ferry interested students to the competition venue.
Can't stand him to bits!!!! [Go KM and see and you'll know who hte author is] He sound as if he's so great or sth la. when he went to watch the acjc match more than supporting the nj squashers. and he said this. he didnt cheer at all and just know how to make these type of comments. god. I HATE HIM TO BITS. and he thinks i'm deaf or sth. I AM IGNORING HIM and he told his friends that I'M MAD la. MAD as in siao siao that kind. HE SUCKS TO THE CORE MAN. He can have all the support he wants. he's not in the team anyway.
Yay. Council's exco is out. the ideas head is from ahs. 2 years consecutively. last year was wenhao and this year's jiali. so haaaapy. ahs rocks!! haa.
